LIVERPOOL

The Liverpool & South West Lancashire Family History Society (L&SWLFHS) was originally founded as the Liverpool Family History Society in May 1976. As the membership of the Society grew, other branches were set up by members residing outside Liverpool. The Society changed its name to accommodate the Groups, first to Liverpool and District F.H.S. Then to its present name, to reflect the area within the Hundred. In 1981 it was realised that members based in and around Liverpool itself, were the only group unrepresented in the Society and the Liverpool branch was set up with its own local committee. We continue to meet each month, with several founder members still attending regularly. Half of the regulars travel from the Wirral, North Wales and all parts of Lancashire and we frequently welcome overseas members to the meetings or visitors who have arrived via the weekly Help Desk.

HELP DESK

Our Tuesday afternoon help desk usually takes place on the third floor of the Central Library in William Brown Street between 1.00 pm and 3:30 pm. However, please note it has been cancelled with effect from 14 November 2023 and will recommence on 9 January 2024. The reason for the cancellations is because the Liverpool Christmas Market restricts access to the Library and parking.
